BikeMaine

September 12 @ 1:00 pm - September 19 @ 3:00 pm

| $875

BikeMaine is a fully-supported, seven-day cycling tour organized by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. Open to 350 cyclists, the tour takes a different course every year. Routes traverse tranquil back roads with little car traffic, looping through small towns and scenic areas along the coast and inland. The terrain is moderately challenging, with daily rides averaging 55 miles. The ride includes meals made from locally-sourced ingredients, optional afternoon activities and nightly entertainment.

The 2015 route begins at the southern tip of Maine, in Kittery, where we stay at Fort Foster and enjoy a traditional Maine lobster bake overlooking Portsmouth Harbor. Our second night is in Old Orchard Beach, with its famous pier and 6-mile long sandy beach. We head northwest to Bridgton, located in the heart of the beautiful Lakes Region. From there, we climb into the foothills of the White Mountains for a two night stay in Bethel. On the layover day, riders can elect to do some serious hill climbing, mountain biking, or a host of off-the-bike experiences for which the 4-season destination of Bethel is known. From there, everyone rides over breathtakingly beautiful Evans Notch to Sweden, where we stay at a lakefront private summer camp. Our last night is in charming, historic Kennebunk, and then we set off on our final day of riding, past the summer home of President Bush and lighthouses and through idyllic summer resort towns. Experience for yourself why Maine is known as Vacationland!
